An Unchanging Truth in a World of Falsehood

We live in an age where truth feels increasingly difficult to pin down. From deep-fake videos and false online profiles to conflicting news reports and constantly changing public opinion, it can be hard to know what to trust. Even local conversations - in workplaces, schools, and communities around Glossop and Charlesworth - are shaped by uncertainty and competing voices.

In a world like this, many people are asking an important question: Where can we find truth that is reliable, certain, and unchanging?

The Christian answer is clear and deeply relevant for our local community: we go to Holy Scripture. The Bible presents itself as a stable foundation in a shifting world - like a house built on rock rather than sand. While everything else changes, God’s word remains forever.

Why Christians Trust the Bible

In everyday life, we naturally assess information by asking sensible questions. Who wrote it? Is it accurate? Is it up to date? What was the purpose behind it? These are the same questions many people in our area ask when trying to navigate modern life, faith, and meaning.

When those same questions are applied to the Bible, it stands up to careful and honest examination.

Authority

The Bible claims God as its ultimate author. Although it was written by human authors across different centuries and cultures, Scripture teaches that these writers were guided by God’s Spirit so that what they wrote was truly God’s word. The Bible is not a religious imitation or “deep fake” - it bears the clear mark of divine authorship.

Predictive Prophecy

One strong mark of divine authorship is predictive prophecy. The book of Daniel describes the rise and fall of world empires long before they appeared (in Daniel 2+7). Historical and archaeological evidence supports its early origin, despite objections that are based not on evidence but on the assumption that prophecy itself is impossible. The Bible’s fulfilled prophecies point to a God who knows history before it unfolds.

Miracles

Miracles are not myths or exaggerations. They are signs that God is at work. They occur when the Creator of the universe acts beyond the natural laws he established. This is why miracles matter. From physical healings to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, these events confirm that God has truly spoken and acted in history.

Accurate, Living and Relevant Today

The Bible is also historically reliable. Archaeological discoveries tend to demonstrate the reliability of the Bible’s historical record. Rather than being disproved, the Bible has been consistently supported by historical evidence.

Yet its greatest accuracy is about the present. The Bible speaks clearly about human nature, human struggle, and human need. It addresses the realities of guilt, suffering, broken relationships, and the search for meaning that people in our local communities experience every day.

This is why the Bible never feels out of date. It is living and active, speaking with relevance to every generation. Across cultures and centuries, it has transformed lives - young and old, rich and poor. Its lasting impact is not driven by trends or popularity, but by truth applied by God’s Spirit.

What Is the Bible For?

Ultimately, the Bible was written to reveal truth that leads to life. It tells us who God is, who we are, and how we can live with purpose and hope.

It speaks honestly about humanity’s condition. Though created good, all people have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. This explains the brokenness we see in ourselves, in our relationships, and in the world around us. Left to ourselves, we stand in need of forgiveness and restoration.

But the Bible’s message does not stop there. At its heart is good news. God, in mercy, sent his Son Jesus Christ to bear the judgment sinners deserve. Through repentance and faith, we can receive forgiveness, new life, and peace with God. Jesus does not merely teach truth – he is the truth.

An Invitation to Our Community

In a world full of shifting opinions and unreliable voices, the Bible offers something rare: truth that does not change and a leader who will never fail. God does not need our approval, attention, or support. He has no hidden agenda and no unmet needs. Because of that, his word can be trusted completely.
