Jesus said, “Whoever Comes To Me, I Will Never Cast Out”

Intro:

Jesus truly is a remarkable man. Many – even those who don’t believe in him as the Saviour – would agree. But there’s a modern tendency to reframe Jesus as just a good moral teacher, someone whose life is worth admiring but whose claims should not be taken at face value. The Bible doesn't give us that option. With what Jesus said and the claims made about him, he either is who he says he is – the Son of God and Saviour of the world – or he is not to be trusted at all.

When Jesus says, “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out”, he is making a claim of cosmic significance. He claims the power to save you from God’s just wrath, to give you eternal security, and to do so with complete authority.

1. All That the Father Gives to Me Will Come to Me:

In Ephesians 1, we see that God chose his people in eternity past – not out of obligation, but freely, out of love. God is not bound by time. As the eternal one, he freely chooses in eternity to give a people to the Son. In this eternal covenant, it is as if the Father says to the Son, “These are the ones I want you to save.”

Imagine a dying father entrusting his troubled son to his brother, pleading for his protection. That is a glimpse – though a faint one – of the love the Father shows in giving us to Christ, even while we were still rebels.

In time, this plays out as God draws people to Jesus (John 6:44). No one comes to Christ unless the Father draws them – not by force, but by changing the heart. Our sinful nature keeps us from Christ; like a wild wolf avoiding a man, we want nothing to do with God. But when God draws us, everything changes.

2. Whoever Comes to Me:

Jesus' invitation makes something clear: before coming to him, we are “out.” Like prisoners on death row, we await judgement for sin. But Jesus extends an open invitation: “Whoever” comes will be welcomed.

There are no exclusions – no background too messy, no person too far gone. This is an offer without prejudice, but not without urgency. One day, the offer will end. For now, the door stands open.

Coming to Jesus means casting ourselves upon him in faith, admitting our sin, trusting in his power to save. Where do we turn when trouble comes? That shows what – or who – we truly trust. If we turn to comfort, achievement, or distraction instead of to Christ, we remain outside of his grace. But if we come to him, we will never be cast out.

3. I Will Never Cast Out:

What a promise. To those who come in faith, Jesus says, “I will never cast you out.” Not now, not ever. The Christian life isn’t easy, but it's secure. The same grace that saved you holds you

fast. Christ will not abandon you – not when you sin, not when the world rejects you, not when death approaches. If you've come to him, you are his. Forever.

Will You Come? This is the question each of us must answer. Jesus invites you—whoever you are. Will you come?
